YESWAY TO ACQUIRE ALLSUP'S

CLOVIS, NM. — Allsup's Convenience Stores, based here, has signed a deal to be acquired by convenience store chain Yesway. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Included in the sale are Allsup's 304 gasoline stations and convenience stores in 160 cities across New Mexico, West Texas, and Oklahoma. The convenience store chain was launched by founders Lonnie and Barbara Allsup in 1964 and pioneered self-service gasoline, hot prepared food (including the legendary fried burrito), 24-hour operations, and self-service fountain drinks.

"We are very excited to have selected Yesway as the acquirer of our company and the future custodian of our brand and legacy," stated Mark Allsup, president of Allsup's Convenience Stores. "We chose Yesway as a partner because their values are truly aligned with ours."

Yesway has said they will keep the Allsup's brand on the existing stations — and may even rebrand some of their Yesway stations to Allsup's in the Southwest.

"Mark was very deliberate and selective in choosing a buyer for our company and we believe he has made an excellent choice in Yesway," said Barbara Allsup, who has served as the company's vice president of finance since its founding. "We have always cared deeply about maintaining strong family commitments, having honest, hard-working employees, and partnering with helpful service providers, vendors and other professionals in the communities we serve. We believe that our legacy is in very good hands with Yesway."

Barbara Allsup will remain with the company through the transition. Mark Allsup will stay on as president of the Allsup's division as will all the employees as the integration of the two companies begins.

Des Moines, IA.-based Yesway is operated by BW Gas & Convenience, a division of Beverly, MA.-based Brookwood Financial Partners. In the last four years, the company has acquired more than 150 c-stores located in New Mexico and Wyoming as well as in Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and South Dakota.

Yesway officials say they plan to expand the company to over 500 convenience stores "in selected regions of the United States."

"Allsup's founders, Lonnie and Barbara Allsup, were true pioneers, innovators, and visionaries of convenience store retailing," said Thomas Nicholas Trkla, CEO of Yesway, announcing the deal. "We could not be more pleased to be joining forces with such a strong, beloved company and talented team of employees."

Trkla added, "We look forward to building on Allsup's legendary heritage and continuing to offer many of the amazing products and services Allsup's customers are so passionate about, including — without question — the world-famous Allsup's Burrito. It is iconic."

STINKER STORES ACQUIRES J.H. KASPER, EXPANDS INTO WYOMING

BOISE, ID. — In a deal finalized at the end of October, Stinker Stores has acquired J.H. Kasper Oil Company, based in Rawlins, WY. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Included in the deal are the company's bulk fuel and lubricants business, a truck stop, two cardlocks, and three Sinclair-branded service stations with convenience stores operating under the name of K's Mini Store.

"I'm excited to grow our footprint in Wyoming with the purchase of J.H. Kaspar," said Charley Jones, Stinker Stores, Boise, ID., announcing the deal. "The company is a natural fit for Stinker with its team of high performing employees and customer-centric culture."

"It took some time to find the right buyer. This company was started by my father in 1958. I've known our customers and employees for decades and they are an extension of my family," said Joe Kaspar, owner of J.H. Kaspar Oil. "As I got to know the Stinker team, it was clear to me that they would embrace what we created and continue our culture. It was just a natural fit, and I'm excited about the opportunities and resources that will now be available to our team."

Approximately 20 employees were based at the J.H. Kaspar headquarters at the time of the sale.

With the acquisition of J.H. Kaspar, Stinker now operates 110 locations: 64 sites in Idaho, 39 in Colorado and seven in Wyoming.

BECK OIL ACQUIRED BY ANABI OIL

VICTORVILLE, CA. — Beck Oil, headquartered in Victorville, CA., has been acquired by a division of Anabi Oil, headquartered in Upland, CA. The purchase price was not disclosed.

Included in the deal was the stock of the company and the corporation itself, including properties held by Glenn and Betty Beck, the founders of the company. Those properties include the company's warehouse and bulk plant in Victorville, four cardlocks in Southern California, and several service stations with convenience stores.

Beck Oil also supplied fuel to 76, Shell, Sinclair, and VP-branded stations in Southern California. With the addition of Beck Oil to their holdings, this will be the first entry of Anabi Oil into the commercial fuel distribution side of the petroleum industry.

"This is a great fit, not just for Anabi but for the employees of Beck Oil," noted Doug Milner, Energy Exits, Camas, WA., who handled the sale. "We were hired by Glenn Beck before his passing and we've been working on this for several months. Glenn wanted to make sure it was great fit for his employees. It was a challenging project that was made more difficult by the passing of Glenn halfway through but we were able to complete it with the estate."

The purchase of Beck Oil was completed at the end of October.

EXTRAMILE OPENS 900TH C-STORE

CARLSBAD, CA. — ExtraMile Convenience Stores has opened its 900th branded convenience store.

Located in Carlsbad, CA., the ExtraMile store is operated by G&M Oil Company, who is one of ExtraMile's largest franchisees. Based in Huntington Beach, CA., G&M currently owns and operates approximately 120 ExtraMile locations across California — and is planning on opening more.

"We've been working with Chevron, their quality fuels and the ExtraMile brand for years," said George Pearson, vice president of G&M Oil. "We are looking forward to building out every Chevron-branded location in our network to the ExtraMile format over the next decade."

The Carlsbad location is part of ExtraMile's expansion across the western United States. The company has said they plan to double the number of sites nationwide by 2027.

"This is another significant milestone in the ExtraMile growth story," said Paul Casadont, president of EMCS. "With our network now comprising 900 c-stores in California, Oregon, Washington and Utah, more consumers can experience our world-class c-store experience and enjoy our product offerings and fantastic customer service."

ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC, is a joint venture between Chevron U.S.A. Inc. and Jacksons Food Stores Inc. of Meridian, ID.

WESTERN CARWASH ASSOCIATION LAUNCHES CHARITY

SACRAMENTO, CA. — The Western Carwash Association has launched a new charity division, dedicated to help increase access to clean drinking water around the world.

The new charity arm of the association, "WCA Shines: Washing Our Way to a Better Tomorrow," is launching by partnering with Wash Away Thirst, which raises money for clean water projects; 100% of donations go directly to the projects.

"WCA has always been one of the strongest and most respected car wash organizations and we are very grateful they have decided to partner with us to help bring clean water to people who need it and help shape the future vision of Wash Away Thirst," stated Jim Dudley, founder of both Wash Away Thirst and Georgia's Wash Me Fast car washes. He noted that since its founding 2009, Wash Away Thirst has raised over $70,000. All administrative costs are absorbed, allowing 100% of donations to go directly to clean water projects.

As part of the WCA Shines program, WCA members will be able to submit their own nonprofits of interest for consideration to receive a grant of up to $1,000.

Forms for submitting for WCA grants are available to members on the WCA website.

"The car wash community is much more than just businesses washing vehicles," said Marla Mayer, president of the WCA. "Car wash owners are actively involved in their local communities and many of them are supporters of a variety of nonprofits and charities."
